I am a grandmother paddling alone over 2,500 miles from Maine to Guatemala. Along the way I will be:
- telling the story of the children who live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community
- honoring their entrepreneurial mothers
- talking about the success of the Safe Passage model school and
- raising funds for additional grades for the school.

Canoe and Kayak Paddle with Purpose Nomination - Vote for us!

Deb paddling past Portland Head
Just learned today that Kayak for Safe Passage Kids has been nominated for the Canoe and Kayak 2015 awards in the category Paddle with Purpose.  This is a great honor, and now the public votes for the final winner.  Vote at: http://www.canoekayak.com/canoe-kayak-awards/vote/paddle-with-purpose/  There is tough competition, so please vote!
The voting will run through about July 21st, and the awards will be presented on August 5 in Salt Lake City at the Outdoor Retail Show.

I am humbled by the awards the expedition is receiving.  We have clearly touched some hearts, as well as raised over $150,000 for the Safe Passage school for the children of the Guatemala City Garbage Dump community.
