I am a grandmother paddling alone over 2,500 miles from Maine to Guatemala. Along the way I will be:
- telling the story of the children who live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community
- honoring their entrepreneurial mothers
- talking about the success of the Safe Passage model school and
- raising funds for additional grades for the school.

Paddle Day 48: Perfect Day in the Keys!

Start of a sunny day in the Florida Keys - Key Largo Angler's Club
Uneventful paddle under clear skies and over smoothish waters.  Hit the populated part of the keys with yachts, kayaks, sailboats, fast fishing boats and even a little helicopter with floats.
Left the good folks at Key Largo Anglers Club with low morning sun lighting up their marina.
Key Larger Angler's Club marina
Paddled across several sounds, with the common navigation challenge down here of finding the little creeks in the mangrove covered shores to cut through into the next sound.  Good fun.  Now paddling in Everglades National Park.

Paddling a creek between sounds
Arrived in Blackwater Sound to see it full of all sorts of crafts enjoying the water.  Landed at Florida Bay Outfitters.  They have a "trail register", where folks doing long trips sign in with their thoughts.  No entries since 2013.  Amazingly, I knew some of the folks who had signed in earlier!

Florida Bay Outfitters - Great Outfit!
Gratitude List:
  1. sunshine
  2. navigation fun
  3. timed the tides to get through the longer cuts
  4. the variety of water craft to watch
  5. Chris taking great pictures
