I am a grandmother paddling alone over 2,500 miles from Maine to Guatemala. Along the way I will be:
- telling the story of the children who live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community
- honoring their entrepreneurial mothers
- talking about the success of the Safe Passage model school and
- raising funds for additional grades for the school.

Paddle Day 33: Winds, Waves and First Surfing Adventure

Early morning interview with WTNH
A restless night.  Waking up every hour or so to check the weather.  Debating whether to risk kayaking in the winds and seas kicked up by the constant winds and high gusts.

Paddle Day 31: Against the currents, Hot and Thirsty

Saybrook Point Light house
It was a pleasant start from Saybrook Point, but I was having to paddle hard against the current.

Paddle Day 30: Heat and a "Murmuration" of Swallows

FourisFine1's photo of  Starling Murmuration
It was the hottest day yet, paddling in the protected and warm waters of Long Island Sound.

Paddle Day 29: Head Winds, Splashes and Saved by Sue!

About to be PUSHED OFF
Launched from Noank with a big push.  So much for self propelled.   How can I get those pushes all day long?

Adventures of Patito Amistoso: Chapter Three

Dear children at Safe Passage and around the world,

Swimming at last!
I am so happy!  I finally swam alongside Deb.  Can you find me in the photo?  It is hard because I am yellow and the kayak is yellow.  I even have a yellow safety line!  I like that safety line.  If the waves get too big I ask Deb to pull me in!  I keep the safety line on when I am on the kayak as well, so if I get swept overboard, Deb can haul me back aboard.
