I am a grandmother paddling alone over 2,500 miles from Maine to Guatemala. Along the way I will be:
- telling the story of the children who live in the Guatemala City garbage dump community
- honoring their entrepreneurial mothers
- talking about the success of the Safe Passage model school and
- raising funds for additional grades for the school.

Self Rescue

Practicing the heel hook
Getting close to launch date!  Spent two hours yesterday practicing self rescues.
Every kayak is different, so I have to spend time finding out exactly how the expedition kayak reacts.  Did the heel hook self rescue again and again and again, until it was second nature and automatic.  My inner thighs today are letting me know I did some work.
Testing the Wind Paddle sail
Also did a little testing of the sailing rig attachment I created down at Mystic over the weekend.  The Wind Paddle sail works great, and I can paddle at the same time.
